Our digital weight management programme offers flexible, online support to help adults reach a healthy weight and build healthier habits that last.
Delivered through the Second Nature app, this programme gives you expert guidance, peer support and easy-to-follow tools.
It’s a great option if you want flexible support to manage your weight at your own pace, from home, and without attending weekly sessions.
What’s included?
The programme focuses on simple, enjoyable meals and lifelong lifestyle changes, no calorie counting, points or ‘syns’. You are signed up to a three-month app-based programme, which includes:
- one-to-one support from a registered dietitian or nutritionist
- online peer support with others on the programme through group chats
- tools to track your progress, including weight and daily steps
- over 300 healthy recipes
- daily bite-sized articles on nutrition, movement, sleep, stress and wellbeing
After completing the three-month programme, you’ll continue to have ongoing access to the app and resources.
Am I eligible?
You qualify for our free digital programme if you:
Are 18 years or older (if you are between the ages of 16 – 18 years, read more about our group sessions)
Live, work, or study in Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire, or Milton Keynes (or are registered with a doctor in one of these areas)
Have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or above
Or:
Have a BMI of 25 or above and have health conditions such as
- Type 2 Diabetes
- Hypertension
- Cardiovascular Disease
- Osteoarthritis
- Dyslipidaemia
- Non-diabetic Hyperglycaemia
- Sleep Apnoea.
Or:
If you have a BMI of 23 and you are from Black African, African-Caribbean, or South Asian communities.
How does it work?
Once you have referred yourself to the service, you’ll be sent a secure sign-up link.
Complete your details and confirm you are ready to start. You’ll be added to the next programme, which usually take place every Monday.
