Healthy weight resources for adults

If you are not currently eligible for our programme there are plenty of free resources to help you make healthy choices. The following programmes are available nationally and free to join if you meet their criteria:

NHS digital weight management programme

This 12-week online programme is designed to help adults living with obesity and additional conditions like diabetes or hypertension. It offers a flexible, digital approach to behaviour and lifestyle changes.

Diabetes prevention programme

If you are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes, the Healthier You programme offers a 9-month, evidence-based lifestyle change programme. Depending on what suits you best, you can choose between face-to-face group sessions or a digital service.

There are many free tools available to help you make lasting, positive changes to your weight. These resources can guide you through small, simple changes you can make part of your routines:

The NHS Better Health provides tips on healthy eating, weight loss plans, and easy food swaps. You can also download the free NHS weight loss plan to help you get started.

Using the NHS physical activity guidelines can help you to understand how much exercise you need to stay healthy. Whether you are a beginner or not, the Get Active website provides resources to help you stay motivated, including home workout ideas and the Couch to 5k app to help you get moving.

Healthy choices for families

If your family members are currently ineligible for our programme, there are many free resources available to support families in making healthy choices together.

Healthy recipes and activities

Check out the NHS Healthier Families website for affordable, healthy recipes and fun activities. You’ll find easy 10-minute games, inspired by Disney films, to get everyone moving. Plus, there’s a sugar calculator to help you make healthier food choices.

Healthy steps email

Sign up for the the 8-week healthy steps email programme to receive practical tips, fun games, healthy recipes, and more. Perfect for families looking to make healthier, budget friendly changes.

Help with buying healthy food

If you’re more than 10 weeks pregnant or have a child under 4 years, you may be entitled to get help to buy healthy food and milk with the Healthy Start Card. If you are eligible, you’ll receive a card with funds that can be used at selected shops.

Being active as a family

The NHS physical activity guidelines can help you understand how much activity is needed for all ages. Being active together is a great way to bond as a family. Check out Move to Improve for fun indoor and outdoor games to get the whole family moving.
